An accident this morning on the R59 DF Malan Drive intersection in Sasolburg left a man dead and a 2 year-old child with critical injuries.

It is believed that the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck resulting in the man and child being ejected from the vehicle.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene and found the child and man several metres away from the vehicle they were travelling in.

Bodasing added that unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for the man. He was declared dead on the scene.

“The child was found that she had sustained critical injuries. A woman travelling in the same vehicle sustained moderate injuries. She was treated and transported to hospital by ambulance,” Bodasing said.

Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
