MEC Mbombo to open newly refurbished Victoria Hospital Clinical Forensic Unit

Tomorrow, 25 May 2015, the Western Cape Health MEC, Dr Noma French Mbombo, will be opening the newly refurbished Victoria Hospital Clinical Forensic unit, for survivors of sexual offences.

The unit was in need of renovation.

A renovation project as undertaken in mid-January 2015, and was completed by the end of April 2015.

MEC Mbombo’s spokesperson Siviwe Gwarube said this 24 hour clinical forensic unit offers various services, including the medico-legal management of survivors of sexual offences and healthcare services relating to accidents, sexual assault, injuries and trauma.

Gwarube said this specific centre services the greater Cape Town area and is available to people of all ages.

Gwarube added that this was made possible by the coming together of various partners including NACOSA, Inner Wheels Clubs, Rape Crisis and other private donors.
