Protest actions cause’s road closure and mayor delays

Two protest actions, one on the N2 and another in Phillipi resulted in road closures and mayor delays.

The N2 protest has been opened however on Govan Mbeki Road between Stock Road and Old Kilpfontein Road has been closed to traffic due to protest action and burning tyres.

City of Cape Town’s Richard Bosman said there is a selection protest in Phillipi, where Sheffield road has been closed off with some rubble and tyres burning on the road.

Bosman said the roadway has been made safe and we just waiting for our cleansing department to come and clear the rubble before we open the road.

The cause of the protest actions is not yet clear at this stage.
