ANC describes the Cuban Five as heroes

The African National Congress Youth League in the Western Cape has described the Cuban Five as heroes of our liberation struggle.

The Cuban Five were arrested in the United States without evidence in 1998 for alleged espionage and murder.

South Africa played a part in their campaign to be released. The five are in the country this week to show their gratitude to the country for the support.

ANC Youth League’s Siyabulela Tom said not only do they honour the Cuban Five for their very important role, but they continue to consider their evolutionary inspiration.

“We know a similar policy is to be implemented in our country, which is the message that we as the African National Congress Youth League will send.” Tom added.
