The Public Transport Voice
said it is opposed to the annual price hike that will come into effect for
Metrorail as from the 1st of July.
Metrorail’s Richard Walker
said the yearly price hike is due to inflation and they are in the process to
talk to the relevant parties.
PTV’s Zingisani Nkanjeni said
the price will mostly affect the poor and the marginalised.
Nkanjeni added that we believe
that as much as we find ourselves speaking in programs of poor infrastructure,
we calling the national department of transport.
“Metro-rail and PRASA to find
other ways to sustain their budget and we also calling the improvements of
trains, train stations, time management issues of safety and security,
reliable, reliability we believe if they can solves this issue some of the
problems we find ourselves seating with we be solved," Nkanjeni added.
