An accident involving two trucks left three people dead on the N3, Lions Head in KwaZulu Natal.

It is believed that the two trucks collided head-on.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics, as well as rescue services arrived on scene and found both trucks at the bottom of the roadside embankment. Unfortunately both trucks had sustained a severe amount of damage in the collision.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that three men from both trucks had sustained multiple fatal injuries in the head-on collision. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead.” Meiring added.

He also said one patient from one of the trucks was found on scene with minor injuries. Paramedics treated the patient for his injuries and thereafter transported him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Meiring further said that Rescue services had to use the jaws-of life equipment to free the trapped patients from the wreckage

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
