Today MEC of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning, Anton Bredell, will launch a Fire Prevention Toolkit for Educators aimed at combating fires in informal settlements and other communities across the province.

A demonstration will also be held at the Zolile Malindi Community Centre.

Spokesperson for MEC Bredell, James Brent Styan said, the idea and the plan with this tool kit is to help educators to assist them in training and talking to kids in communities to be able to address fire in the informal settlements.

“Fire in the informal settlements remains as a big concern for the provincial government. We believe by taking preventative steps we can potentially bring down and limit the damage caused by fire in these settlements” Styan added.
