An accident between a taxi and light motor vehicle this morning in Kempton Park has left 16 people injured.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics from the Johannesburg Central and East branch, arrived on scene and found the stationery taxi and light motor vehicle on the embankment on the road.

Meiring said occupants that had been travelling in the taxi were found sitting on the embankment. Paramedics began their assessment and found that 16 people from the taxi and light motor vehicle had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Fortunately, no one had sustained serious injuries. Paramedics set up a triangle area and began treating the patients for the injuries. Once treated and some of the patients immobilised, they were transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment” Meiring added.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
