A shack fire in Munsieville, west of Johannesburg, has left one brother and a sister critically injured this morning.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, on our arrival we found the fire services battling the fire.

Paramedics were ushered to two patients, a male and a female in their 70s that had sustained severe burns over most of their bodies.

Both patients were in a critical condition.

Meiring added that “we immediately began their treatment and provided the patients with advanced life support interventions”

Meiring said, once treated, one of the patients was airlifted by the ER24 helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital.

“The second patient was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment” Meiring added.

It is unknown how the fire started, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
