A man in his 30’s has been killed and another woman injured when a motorcycle collided with a light motor vehicle at the Wettel and Elm Road intersection in Benoni, east of Johannesburg.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics were alerted to the incident by CPF members, and on their arrival, they found both light motor vehicle and motorcycle in the middle of the road, some distance apart.

Meiring said, on assessment of the biker, paramedics found that he had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries.

“Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead.”

The driver of the light motor vehicle was found to have sustained only minor injuries.

She was treated for her injuries and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment, Meiring added.

Meanwhile, a man in his 50’s was killed on Saturday afternoon while driving his motorbike on Pomana Road in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the motionless driver lying in the middle of the road.

The motorbike lay in pieces at least 50 metres away.

Meiring said, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for the patient.

The cause of the collision is not yet known, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
