An accident this morning on the R59 South of Johannesburg has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

It is believed that a biker collided with a pedestrian while she was crossing the road.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics responded to the scene, and on their arrival, they found the lifeless body of a female lying in the slow lane of the road.

Unfortunately the pedestrian had already succumbed to her multiple fatal injuries. She was later declared dead on scene.

Paramedics also assessed the male patient who had been driving the motorcycle when the collision occurred. On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained moderate injuries to his arm and legs.

Paramedics treated the man for his injuries and thereafter transported him to Med-clinic for urgent medical treatment.

Exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
