MEC Mbombo launches probe into a case of alleged ill-treatment of a patient

Western Cape MEC of Health Nomafrench Mbombo has called for an urgent report into a case of an alleged ill-treatment at the Mitchell’s Plain hospital.

The patient suffering from a chronic disease was allegedly miss treated by the staff members at the hospital.

Ministerial Spokesperson Colleen Smart they are condemning any the ill treatment of patients in any facilities wherever it occurs.

“We know that facilities across the country are under severe pressures, due to the increasing numbers of people rely on our public health system. But the ill treatment of patients is total unacceptable.


As of yesterday the MEC had launched an in-depth investigation into these allegations and we are awaiting the full report to be submitted to our office” Smart added.
