Cape Town police have opened an inquest case for
further investigation after the discovery of a newborn baby with an umbilical
cord in Retreat.
The baby was found by an unidentified man behind a
post office building in Seventh Avenue on Monday.
Captain FC van Wyk said our members went to the
scene after being alerted of the incident and on arrival they found a body of a
baby boy covered in a blanket.
Van Wyk said we have opened an inquest docket for
further investigation and a post mortem will be conducted to determine the
cause of death.
“Anyone with information about this incident is kindly
requested to contact Warrant Officer Wayland Van Aarde on 021 702 9000 or Crime
Stop on 086 00 10111” Van Wyk added.
