Load-shedding free weekend

Eskom says there’s no intention to implement load-shedding this weekend, as the system has been stable for some time.

There has been no load-shedding for the past 11 days, and the utility has managed to do much needed maintenance work on its generating units.

However, the utility has urged customers, to continue using electricity sparingly, and use alternative ways to keep warm.

Eskom’s spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe said, “The power system has been very stable over the last 12 weeks now, if it continues like this without having any technical faults and today as well as possibly the weekend we might go through without having any load-shedding.”

“But we cannot give a guarantee, as we have said before our power stations, some of them are seriously old. When they do have faults, technical faults, sometimes we are forced into load-shedding.” Phasiwe added
