Man shot and wounded in West of Johannesburg

A man in his 40’s was in a critical condition after he sustained a gunshot wound on the R24 in Tarlton, West of Johannesburg on Sunday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, said ER24 paramedics were called to the scene, and on arrival, they found the male patient lying outside on the pavement near a tavern.

On assessment, paramedics found that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was in a critical condition.

Meiring said, “Paramedics immediately began their treatment of the patient, as well as providing him with advanced life support. Once treated, the patient was airlifted by medical helicopter Baragwanath Hospital for urgent treatment.”

“The cause of the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations”, Meiring added
