Off-duty police officer arrests robbery suspect

Police have arrested a suspect after he robbed a 36 year old woman in Mobeni Heights in KwaZulu Natal.

It is alleged that the woman was standing with neighbours in front of her gate in Willow Grove waiting for transport to work when she was accosted by three men.

Police Spokesperson Jay Naicker said an off duty officer came to her rescue.

“He chased the suspects on foot and confronted the three men. One of the suspects was shot in the leg and arrested whilst the other two fled. The victim’s handbag was recovered from the injured suspect” Naicker added

He will be charged for robbery with aggravating circumstances and will appear in Chartsworth Magistrate Court soon.
