One dead and three injured in separate accidents

An accident this morning left one person dead and two people injured on the N12 towards Johannesburg near Atlas Road in Lakefield, Benoni.

It is understood that two vehicles collided each other. Exact details to the cause of the collision will remain the subject of a police investigation.

Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said upon their arrival at the scene they found that two motor vehicles had collided on resulting in one man tragically losing his life another man travelling in the same vehicle sustained seriously injuries.

She added that they treated the injured man in the scene and he was transported to hospital for further medical care.

“A man travelling in a second vehicle sustained critical injuries and was entrapped in the vehicle. The fire department had to make use of specialized rescue equipment to extricate the man form the vehicle.

The Netcare1 Helicopter was activated to airlift the critically injured man to hospital for urgent medical care that he required” Steinmann said.

Meanwhile a man was injured on Willow Road near Gum Road in Benoni when his bicycle drove through a pothole resulting in him falling off his bicycle.

 Netcare 911 Spokesperson Santi Steinmann said upon assessment after injured man paramedics found that he sustained serious injuries during the fall and after receiving treatment at the scene the man was transported to hospital for medical care.
