Two people died in a collision between two bakkies

Two people died following a collision between two bakkies on the R26 about 15km from Reitz, direction Tweeling, in the Free State on Thursday.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene they found that one person was entrapped in one of the vehicles and another was ejected.

She said, paramedics assessed the person who was ejected and found that he sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead.

Bodasing added that the woman was extricated from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life, she was assessed and found to have sustained serious injuries.

She said, she as well as other patients, who sustained moderate injuries, were treated and transported to hospital.

Sadly the woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.


The cause of the collision is unknown, however authorities were on scene for further investigations, Bodasing concluded.
