Chief Traffic Officer nabbed for fraud and corruption

The Chief Traffic Officer at the Maquassi-Hill Municipality in Wolmaransstad, North West has been arrested by the Hawks for fraud and corruption on Friday.

The officer allegedly issued fraudulent licence disks for Joordan’s 39 trucks as well as ensuring that his accomplice does not pay traffic fines for all his trucks.

Hawks Media Liaison officer Lieutenant Robert Netshiunda says he appeared facing charges of corruption and fraud after he defrauded the municipality of R540 000 rand together with his co-accused a 49-year-old man who is a truck owner in the area.

Both of them will be appearing before the same court on Wednesday.


His other colleague was released in bail for R500 due to his sickness, he added.
