The Congress of the People has rejected the call by the EFF to remove Die stem from the National Anthem. In a statement released by COPE, the congress believes that what the EFF is proposing will aggravate the situation and make things worse for those who are worst affected in society.

Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem emphasised that South Africa is for all who live in it.

Bloem Explained the congress of the people roundly rejects the call for the removal of Die Stem from the national anthem.

Bloem said “let the nation never dishonour the great work and outstanding legacy of Nelson Mandela.”

“Let us also never allow anyone to trample on our world class constitution.” he concluded.
