The Congress of the People urges the public broadcaster to be pro-active in the interest of the people’s health.

In a statement issued, Cope says South Africans are incurring incurable sickness through lack of exercise and rating incorrectly.

Cope spokesperson Farouk Cassim added that consequently, obesity and diabetes are taking a heavy toll on people’s health, happiness and wallets.

Cassim says this is happening because people are not exercising and more importantly because people are eating and drinking too many sugary foods.

“We feel that we need to act pro-actively and quickly to protect the people’s health,” he added.
