Western Cape Minister of Community Safety Dan Plato has urged the community of Masiphumelele to remain calm and cooperate with the Police Service.

A recent surge in violence and vigilantism has prompted the South African Police Service to increase its presence in Masiphumelele.

Ministerial Spokesperson Ewald Botha said MEC Plato says he strongly condemns the alleged vigilante attacks.

“Murder by any name remains a crime and murderers will have to face the full might of the law,” Botha added.

MEC Plato also called on the community to bring their grievances of policing, safety issues to his attention when he visits the community on Monday morning.
