The residents of Bonteheuwel have lodged complaints against the Mayor of Cape Town, Patricia de lil and her ward councillor Theresa Thompson following a community meeting held in Bontehewuel earlier this month where the mayor used explicit language against community members and the ward councillor deliberately disrupting the meeting.

Community members have called on DA leader Mmusi Maimane to take action against De Lile and Thompson.

The Joint Peace Forums, Nadia Mayman explained that the community felt disrespected by the Mayor.

“The community members are saddened by all of this and will protest on Vanguard drive today, to show how strongly they feel about the disrespectful conduct and the city's ongoing refusal to consult with the community.” Mayman concluded.
