City proposes R750million to alleviate traffic congestion

The City of Cape Town has proposed R750 million for road infrastructure investment to alleviate traffic congestion.

In a statement issued, City Mayor, Patricia de Lille says in 2013, through a traffic index survey, Cape Town was rated as the most congested City in South Africa, with a global ranking at 55th place.

She says the survey also revealed that motorists are spending an extra 71% of their time in traffic.

“Today the City of Cape Town’s transport hosted a transport congestion summit to start a very important conversation on traffic congestion in Cape Town.”
