DA pleased over competency testing for teachers

The Democratic Alliance said in a statement that it welcomes the teacher’s competency test.

The DA received a response from a question they had posted at the Basic Education Portfolio Committee on Tuesday.

The Department had said that they would conduct competency tests for teachers.

“In 2007 the Southern and Eastern African Consortium for Monitoring Educational Quality Study found that only 8% of grade 6 maths teachers were able to correctly answer a grade 6 mathematics questions.” DA spokesperson Samkelo Mgobozi said.
