An Articulated truck crashed
this morning on the N3 highway near Hammersdale towards Pietermaritzburg.
At approximately 4 am paramedics arrived on
the scene where they found the truck standing half way down the embarkment, upon
further inspection paramedics found that the driver of the truck, believed to
be his thirties, sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing that they could do
for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
“At this stage it is not clear if the
driver of the truck was flung from the cab during the collision or if he jumped
out of the cab shortly before the crash.” ER 24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak
added.
The exact cause of the crash is not yet known,
local authorities attended the scene.
