Members of the Police and Prison Civil Rights Union will march against police killings in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

Thousands of participants are expected to gather at Mary Fitzgerald Square before marching to Gauteng’s Premier David Makhura’s office where a memorandum of demands will be handed and also at the department of Justice Offices. Popcru will also hold a national march in Pretoria on Friday.

More than 50 police officers have been killed since the beginning of this year.

Meanwhile, the Congress of South African Trade Union in the North West has called for government action to end attacks and murders of police officers, provincial secretary Solly Phetoe said on Tuesday.
