City earns another accolade through EPWP

The City of Cape Town’s Expanded Public Works Programme earned another accolade when it was named Best Municipality for excellence in the implementation of the Expanded Public Works Programme: EPWP Social Sector.

The National Department of Public Works introduced the Kamoso awards in 2007 to recognise and reward best performing public sector bodies that have excelled in the implementation of EPWP in the preceding year.

The category in which the City outshone the competition focuses on temporary work opportunities with a developmental slant, like home-based care, awareness drives, substance abuse programmes, ECD, home based care, holiday programmes.


This accolades are testimony to the City’s hardwork and effort in implementing this national government program. We have taken the blue print and build on it through innovation that include not only increasing being the fithe daily stipend from a R75 to R100 rand but also being the first municipality to introduce and an induction booklets started operate procedure an internal contact management and peroll process the benefit of EPP cannot be underestimate.
