The trial of the woman accused of abducting baby Zephany Nurse 19 years ago is due to start today in the Cape Town High Court after a postponement on Monday.

The sensational case begins almost a year to the day that Nurse was reunited with her biological parents.

She was a mere three days old when a woman allegedly took her from Groote Schuur Hospital while her mother slept.

Getting to know her biological family has been a difficult transition.

Nurse’s grandmother said it was a big shock for her to find out that the people she loved and trusted were not really her family.

A total of nine witnesses are expected to take the stand.

The woman charged with kidnapping, fraud and contravention of the Children’s Act may not be identified in order to protect Nurse’s identity.
