COPE says Zuma must just pay back the money

In a statement the Congress of the People says over the past seven years, President Zuma continued to be contemptuous of the constitution.

Cope Spokesperson Dennis Bloem says, as a result of his failed leadership and the power he exerted over cabinet ministers, the people of South Africa have lost confidence in the executive.

He says the shame investigation carried out by Nkosinathi Nhleko ended with his declaring that the president had to pay nothing for the upgrade at Nkandla.

COPE wants to know how the ruling party is going to repair the enormous damage it did to the standing of the public Protector’s officers.

He added that “The Congress of the People are saying that President Zuma must just pay back the money.
“There is no way that President Zuma can come now and say that he wants his own conditions, that the Minister of Finance and Auditor General must determine the costs, said Bloem”.

He concluded that “The Constitutional Court must instruct them that they must determine how much he must pay back”.
