Five suspects arrested in connection with armed robbery

Yesterday, eThekwini Region Crime Intelligence Task Team in conjunction with National Mobile Train Unit and Pietermaritzburg Hawks conducted an intelligence driven operation at Inanda, Ntuzuma, KwaMashu, Umlazi, Mpumalanga, KZN and Pietermaritzburg areas. 

A total of five wanted suspects aged between 34 and 46 years were eventually arrested for armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as possession of property suspected to be stolen.

“During the operation, a suspected stolen Kia bakkie as well as a Toyota Avanza, which is suspected to be stolen at Mayville was also recovered”, said Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala.
  
“Two 9mm pistols, a Rossi .38 special plus 112 live rounds of ammunitions were recovered”, said Gwala.

She added that… “The recovered firearms will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of any crime in this country”.


“Cash suspected to be taken during the robbery was also recovered from the suspects”, she concluded.
