Suspects in PE on a charge of illegal possession of abalone

Five suspects aged between 25 to 35 years old will appear in the Port Elizabeth magistrate’ court today. On a charge of illegal possession of abalone. 

It is alleged that on Saturday police in Kabega Park were following up on information of alleged illegal abalone activities when they spotted a suspicious while Isuzu bakkie on N2.

“Kabega police with the assistance of the Port Elizabeth Flying squad followed the vehicle”, said Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

“After realising that the police were following them, the vehicle sped off in the direction of Gelvandale, they were involved in an accident”, she added.

“The three occupants were arrested and a large quantity of abalone was seized from the vehicle”, she concluded.
