A man, believe to be in his mid 30s, was killed this morning after he was electrocuted by apparent illegally connected wires in the Jika Joe informal settlement in Pietermaritzburg. Local authority was on scene to disconnect the wires, as well as for further investigations.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring  says… “when ER24 arrived at the settlement shortly before 09h00 this morning after two men that had been walking in the bushes spotted the body.”

“On inspection, paramedics found the patient lying in some tall grass near some exposed wires. The patient had sustained serious burn wounds over most of his body.”

“paramedics assessed the patient and found that he had already succumb to his fatal wounds. Nothing more could be done for patient and he was declared dead on scene.”
