A woman was involved in a head on collision that claimed her life

A woman was killed this morning on the R614 when a bus collided head on with her bakkie in Wartburg, Pietermaritzburg.

Paramedics from ER24 were on their way to another emergency when they came across the collision shortly after 7am. They found the bakkie standing on the side of the road with the woman still trapped in the vehicle”, said Werner Vermaak, ER24 Spokesperson.

Upon their assessment they found that the woman barely showed signs of life, they used rescue equipment to gain access to the woman in order to try and save her life”, said Vermaak.

 “Sadly, despite the efforts of the paramedics, there was nothing more than they could do and she was later declared dead on the scene. “, said Vemaak.

The driver of the bus, believe to be the only occupant, was not injured in the collision. Local authorities were called to the scene to conduct an investigation”, concluded Vermaak.
