Three Metro Police officers have helped deliver a baby amid ongoing violent demonstrations in Du Noon.

Constable Abdullah Fisher, assisted by officers Philiswa Mayekiso and Brydon Hoffman, came to the aid of a woman in labour early this morning.

Dozens of residents went on the rampage after they were evicted from privately-owned property.

Ambulance services couldn't get to the woman due to the violence in the area, so it was up to the officers to help the panicked mom in a house in the informal settlement.

Metro Police's Yolanda Faro has applauded the officers for their good work.

Faro says both mother and baby are currently in a good condition at Somerset Hospital.
