Eastern Cape residents have been warned to brace
themselves for chilly and wet conditions this weekend as a severe cold front
passes through the province.
South African Weather Service forecaster Phumla
Goba yesterday said in a statement opposing weather conditions were caused by a
surface high pressure system which extended its ridge over the Eastern Cape,
behind a frontal system.
East London temperatures are expected to start at
12°C today, peaking at a low 14°C. Bhisho residents should expect a low 8°C,
warming to a chilly 13°C later in the afternoon.
Mthatha started out at 7°C this morning and is
expected to peak at 13°C. A warning of heavy clouds and very cold temperatures
are expected, with showers in some places.
