One person died and others injured in separate accidents

Nine people were injured when a taxi they were travelling in overturned on Old Greytown Road in Pietermaritzburg, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said paramedics arrived on the scene where they found the taxi standing on its wheels in the road.

Meanwhile, one person died and 14 others were injured in a collision between a minibus taxi and a VW Polo in Newlands, Johannesburg, on Saturday morning, Gauteng paramedics said.

"Shortly after 8am this morning, paramedics from ER24 and other services arrived on the corner of Main and Plantation roads in Newlands where they found a taxi wedged into the side of the Polo", ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak said.
