Police monitor Vaal University after buildings torched overnight

Police say the situation at the Vaal University of Technology remains tense this morning, following overnight violence in which a number of buildings were torched.

Students started protesting earlier this week over the university’s decision to suspend students for provoking violence on campus.

Management is now at the Vanderbijlpark campus assessing thedamage.

The police’s Fikile Funda says no arrests have yet been made.
