The African Independent Congress says it will not back down on its demand to have Matatiele reincorporated into KwaZulu-Natal.
The AIC is expected to meet the African National Congress tomorrow about forming a coalition government in Ekurhuleni.
The ruling party in the province won 48.64% of the vote and is hoping to use the AIC's close to 2% to have an outright majority.
In 2006 the Constitutional Court found that Matatiele's redemarcation was invalid with the party meeting with President Jacob Zuma who promised to resolve the matter.
The party's Mandla Galo says they have also been approached by the Democratic Alliance but are waiting first for confirmation from the ANC.
