The battle for the big metros remains tight for the African National Congress and Democratic Alliance.
Despite a second long night of counting by the Independent Electoral Commission, there's still no final result in Nelson Mandela Bay, while the ANC and the DA are neck-and-neck in Tshwane and Johannesburg this morning.
At least 98% of the vote has been counted in Nelson Mandela Bay and the official opposition has 46.56% of the vote there while the ruling party has 49.9%.
The DA has already claimed to have a majority of votes in that metro.
In Johannesburg, 68% of the vote has been counted the DA is just in the lead there on 43%, the ANC has 41% followed by the Economic Freedom Fighters at 10%.
