Gauteng police have advised community members to come forward with any information about suspects who pose as fake cops as tracking criminals down is proving to be difficult.
Yesterday, a Roodepoort woman and her toddler were kidnapped and robbed after being stopped by fake cops who accused her of robbing a bank.
The mother, who says she was stopped by men dressed in the police uniform, told her to get into their vehicle so that she could fill out a statement at the police station.
Spokesperson Kay Makhubele says while some have been arrested for the illegal use of police uniforms they are having a tough time finding other criminals.
