A mother and her 2-year-old son burnt to death in an early morning shack fire in Joe Slovo Park, Milnerton, on Wednesday, the City of Cape Town's fire services said.
Spokesperson Liezl Moodie said firefighters responded to the scene at 01:00, where they found the lone iron and wood structure in flames.
No other shacks were affected.
The woman and the little boy were found dead in their home.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and police are investigating.
