Car accident leaves 5 year old boy dead.

A head-on collision between a SUV and a bakkie on the Ou Kaapse weg in Silvermine resulted in the death of a 5-year-old boy and another injured yesterday.

Emergency services found both vehicles off the road when they arrived. Both vehicles were severely damaged.

Paramedics found an unknown person performing CPR on a 5-year-old boy.

Paramedics immediately took over and provided the child with advanced life support interventions. No vital signs returned and the boy was declared dead.

Another boy, also aged 5-years-old, sustained moderate injuries. He was treated and transported to the Red Cross Hospital.

The driver of the SUV did not sustain any injuries. The driver of the bakkie sustained minor injuries but declined transportation to hospital.
