The City of Cape Town will spend R171 million on a project aimed at easing traffic congestion in the Kommetjie area.

The Kommetjie Road Project is expected to start within the next few weeks.

A two-way traffic flow system, not a stop-and go-control, will be in place for the duration of the project.

The City’s Brett Herron says Kommetjie has been identified as a congestion hotspot.

He says they expect the project to take just under three years to complete and they expect to start late in October.
