Next month, SARS Commissioner Tom Moyane will face
questions over the investigation into suspended top tax official Jonas Makwakwa
Last week Makwakwa was put on suspension by Moyane, awaiting
an investigation into alleged suspicious payments into his personal bank
Kelly-Ann Elskie, SARS employee and alleged to be Makwakwa’s
significant other, is also assumed to have received payments.
The payments reportedly amount to more than R1 million and
took place over the past six years.
A meeting was set down for October 12 Parliament’s Standing Committee on Finance wants to hear
from Moyane as well as Treasury and the Financial Intelligence Centre about the
progress of the inquiry in a meeting set down
