Gupta’s react to State Capture Report

The Gupta family reacted to the State Capture Report saying they are aware of its release, but don’t feel they have been caught up in any misconduct.

Their lawyer Gert van der Merwe says the report only recommends there be a commission of inquiry, which will give his clients a chance to clear their name although the report associates President Jacob Zuma in illegal activities related to them.

It also implicates Cabinet ministers and parastatals.

In addition, former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela says that the investigation has proven that the present Public Protector can’t execute the investigation fully because of a lack of resources.
