The trial of the man known as the “Springs monster” and his wife, accused of the ten-year-long abuse of their five children, continues in the High Court in Pretoria today.

The pair pleaded innocent to charges including the attempted murder of their 13-year-old son, five charges of child abuse, five of child neglect, showing pornographic material to the oldest daughter when she was still under 18, and using and distributing crystal meth.

The father was soon arrested after police were called to the couple’s house on the East Rand in May 2014, after their son managed to cry to a neighbour for help.
