An outbreak shooting in delft has took one constable life
in Sunday morning. Cop of 32-year-old lost his life in duty and two others were injured,
this comes just after days army was deployed to pledge gang violence in that
area. The suspect, of about 24-years-old, was
also injured during the shootout with cops and is currently in hospital under
police guard. According to Daily Voice, Police members were
performing crime prevention then heard gun shooting in one of the nearby streets,
and it was gang.
Police Spokesperson Captain
Frederick van Wyk confirmed that cops were performing crime prevention as
instructed and came under fire resulting in the death of one cop and two other
police members seriously injured.
"The suspect subsequently
fled. A second patrol vehicle responding to the shooting, was also shot at by
the same suspect and they returned fire and injured the 24-year-old suspect who
is currently under police guard in hospital."
Police have deepened
deployment in the region. Police management have condemned the incident and
vowed to continue to purge the streets of Cape Town of hazardous convicts and
