South Africa will remain under adjusted alert level 4 lockdown for a further 2 weeks.


This was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa who addressed the nation on Sunday, on developments in the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The regulations remain largely the same, except for:

• Restaurants and eateries to open under strict health protocols with no more than 50 people at a time

• Gyms and fitness centres to open

• Schools will remain closed until 26 July.

President Ramaphosa also announced that the Covid-19 Ters scheme should be extended to sectors that are economically impacted by Level 4 restrictions.

The sale of alcohol, all social, political, religious and other gatherings remains prohibited.

Citizens must be indoors between 9p.m-4a.m, unless they have a permit.

Ramaphosa announced that the latest regulations are in place until Sunday, 25 July 2021.
