Suspect allegedly linked to Joe Slovo taxi shooting to appear in court

A 41-year-old man from Nyanga will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, after he is allegedly linked to a shooting incident that occurred at the Joe Slovo taxi rank last Wednesday.

Three people were killed on the scene and a fourth victim succumbed to their injuries in hospital after sustaining serious gunshot wounds.

The shooting incident is believed to be taxi-related violence.

The police’s Novela Potelwa said the suspect, was arrested on Monday night.

‘’The suspect, from the Nyanga area, was arrested by detectives from the Provincial Taxi Violence Unit who also seized a firearm during the arrest. The suspect is facing murder and attempted murder charges.’’
